TN and OH Weekend

Whoops! Here it is Friday and I haven't gotten around to posting about our weekend. I am such a slacker these days. I find it easiest to write my blog posts while on break at work and then email them to myself and post while at home. Sounds good in theory, but that reality doesn't always map out. Usually, I have no desire to get online when I get home from work. The only computer I use typically is my iPad and that's mostly to read on my Kindle application. And to think I was so opposed to getting one initially... didn't think I would enjoy reading books on an electronic device. Little did I know, huh?
Anyways, I am getting off track. Matt and I had a wonderful weekend. Because he was off all this week, I decided to take off Monday and Tuesday in order for us to spend a little more time in Tennessee visiting family and so we could spend Tuesday in Cincinnati, OH.
Saturday morning we loaded up our truck with two big pieces of furniture my mom was buying from us (to make room in our nursery - we have a small home) and headed to TN in order to be on time for Wyatt's 9:30AM grooming appointment. We dropped him off with time to spare and then dropped off the furniture at my mom's house where I stayed while Matt headed to his mom's house. I had planned on spending some time with my mom before picking up Wyatt from his grooming appointment which is exactly what we did. We went to lunch and did a little shopping before it was time to pick Wyatt up. She then brought me to Matt's mom's house where we hung out doing nothing - I read 2 books over the weekend while here. Better than watching TV. And I had a great time reading. Win, win.
Sunday afternoon, my mom and I went to a baby shower for two people in her small group. Everyone seemed very nice and I had a good time. Not sure how much I'll like my own baby shower though since I'm not a big fan of being the center of attention. Ahhh... the things we do for those we love.
Monday we didn’t do much prior to leaving. Once home, I desperately wanted to read in the bathtub. So I did. It was very relaxing. When we had left on Saturday morning, I turned our air up from 74 to 78 degrees. It took HOURS for the house to cool down and the air conditioner to stop running. It was THAT HOT outside!
Tuesday, while Matt was at the gym, I got ready to head to Cincinnati. I made sure I got the locations and directions of each place I wanted to visit and then I cleaned the house a bit while waiting. We left the house at 9:50AM and didn’t run into any problems on the way there.
Where did we go??
Ikea - We ate lunch and walked around the store. Didn’t buy anything. I was on the hunt for baby items and I was a bit disappointed we didn’t find anything.
Jungle Jim's - The most awesome international grocery store I have ever explored. We spent like 2 hours in here looking at everything. Check out all these pictures of all the neat sights to see while shopping.

I want to point out they had real 'Made in Europe' Haribo gummy bears for $2.50. You could buy the American version for $1 but those are not nearly as good.
The Cincinnati Art Museum -  The museum was free; just had to pay $4 for parking. I loved the Pinocchio statue outside. He was the highlight of the entire place. I was a bit disappointed by this place.
I'm not a big fan of paintings (I prefer artifacts and sculptures) and this is what they mostly had available to view. I was hoping this place would be more like the lovely art museum I saw while visiting Kansas City, MO. Still, I am glad we went and I can cross it off my summer bucket list I made myself at the beginning of the season.
We both want to head back to Jungle Jim's when it is cooler before our baby boy gets here. Even if we had our freezer bag with ice and made this our last stop before heading home, I think it was simply too hot to take home perishable foods. Especially considering on our way home, what should have taken 2 hours ended up taking 3.5 hours because of construction and a possible car accident. When we got to the point where we were barely moving, I had 1/4 tank of gas. It quickly went to 1/8. I was extremely nervous and concerned Matt (or both of us) would be walking to a gas station that wasn’t in sight. Around this area, exit ramps were few and far in between. Thank GOD we made it to an exit with a gas station. LOTS of people ended up stopping here.
This has nothing to do with the weekend, but I have to tell you about my GREAT Huggies wipes deal.
Here is what I saw online before going to the store:
Huggies Wipes (56 - 72 count) at Kroger $2.19 regular price
On sale for $1.99
Buy 5 participating items, save $5
Making each pack $1 each
Buy $25 or more in Huggies products and get a $5 Catalina to use on a future purchase

So after work yesterday I stopped at my local Kroger and went straight to the wipes section not expecting there to be any left. Well guess what? They had a bunch since they were not marked. They were still showing $2.19 each and when I scanned them, they showed $1.99 but didn’t indicate being part of any deal. At that point, A Kroger employee walked by with a scanner and I asked him to please check the price and tell me if it was part of the deal making them a $1 each. He looked into IT and thought it was part of the deal, but wasn’t sure. I thanked him for his help and decided to try it.
While loading up my cart, a lady started talking to me and told me the bigger packs were a better deal. I then explained to her what I was trying to do and showed her the website I saw it on. She then looked for a coupon online. My kind of person! No coupons though.
In the end, I bought 24 packs of 72 count and 2 packs of 56 count. (No I did not clear the shelf - tons of 56 count packages still available.)
Before tax, I paid $25.74 and got back a $5 Catalina = $20.74 for 1840 wipes which make them $0.01127 each
Had I of stocked up on the 56 count packs, for the same price I would have 1456 wipes at $0.01424 each (Can buy them in bulk on Amazon cheaper).
This morning I went to Kroger again to see if the shelves had been re-stocked. They had 5 packages of the 72 count and bunches of the 56 count packages. I decided to buy the 5 packages of 72 count for $4.96 plus tax for 360 wipes at $0.01377 each. I plan on checking again this evening when Matt and I head out to dinner and Target. Wish me luck!

26 Weeks

How far along: 26 weeks
Fruit-size comparison: A whole head of lettuce (Wow, he is getting big!)
Length is: Roughly 35.6 centimeters or 14.02 inches head to heel and his weight is roughly 1.51  - 2 pounds.
Developmental milestones: Our baby boy can now open his eyes since his eyelids are no longer fused together. He's growing longer and laying down more fat too. This week his testicles will descend into the scrotum which is the final step towards development of the genitalia.
Weight gain: I will get weighed at my next appointment on August 7th - I'll share then because if I go off my weight from this morning, I have lost 2 pounds since my last weigh in at the doctor's office which I feel confident isn’t correct. Of course, this could be because my appointments are usually in the afternoon and when I weigh myself at home, I always do it in the morning.
Sleep: I seem to be waking up less to pee. Usually only happens once or twice a night now and I am mostly able to fall back to sleep fairly quickly. I would get even more sleep if I would stop reading before bed. Somehow I always get sucked into reading later then I should when I know I have to be up soon to get ready for work.
Best moment of the week: Feeling my little guy move around always feels amazing. A bit surreal. As of yesterday, it seems my belly has rounded out. I actually look pregnant now opposed to a little chunky. Although being pregnant has not always agreed with me, I do enjoy being pregnant overall when I am just sitting here and I feel him moving. Makes me feel loved and needed. It also lets me know he is okay.
Movement: Baby boy moves a bunch! I especially feel him at night when I am lying down. I also feel him after I eat and when I am sitting at work not really moving. I assume the bigger he gets the more I will feel him move until he no longer has a lot of room to wiggle.
Cravings: Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream with M&M minis on top. Yummy! If I could get away with it, I would eat more than one bowl a day. But one bowl a day is a MUST!
Gender: He's a BOY!!!
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring: On and fully cleaned and shined effective July 25th when I took them into the jewelry store. They look brand new!
Anything making you queasy/sick: Only feeling sick if I don’t eat right away in the morning. This is something I don’t make a habit of doing. It's one of the reasons I am not looking forward to my upcoming glucose test - no more food after midnight and my appointment isn't until 10:15AM. *Sigh*
What I miss: Can't think of one single thing.
What I'm looking forward to: I can barely wait to see our little guy. But within the next 2 weeks, I am looking forward to getting my glucose test done and over with on August 7th. Not looking forward to the actual test, but I look forward to the after part. You know, the part when the nurse calls me and says everything looks normal. At least I hope that’s the phone call I receive from the doctor's office. Fingers crossed.
Labor signs: None. Maybe I can avoid getting Braxton Hicks.
Symptoms: My feet seem to swell every single day. Especially my left foot. Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who is willing to rub my feet every night I ask him. As he should since I mentioned how good of a wife I am by giving him a son. LOL!
Nursery: We finally got rid of the desk and wood bed frame out of the room and delivered to my mom. I am still debating on leaving the queen guest bed in his bedroom and we are still debating on whether or not to move before or after he arrives. Selling the house is a bit scary to me. What if I don’t find a job somewhere else soon enough? Would we have sold our house for nothing? On the plus side, I will be closer to work if we move into the place we would like to move. Od, decisions, decisions!
Emotions: Feeling wonderful and happy! One more week (August 6) until we enter the third trimester!

I'm Tired BUT I Ate Some Good Sweets Over the Weekend

Wow am I tired this morning!
It took me a long while to fall asleep last night even though I was definitely sleepy... Plus, add in the fact that around 2AM I was woken by Wyatt crying... he fell off the bed and was stuck in between the bed and his kennel. Let me explain that better... Every night we place Wyatt at the top of our bed to sleep and every night he tries to go to the bottom of the bed. Several times before we even fall asleep it seems we keep moving him back to the top of the bed. A.) Because we don't want to kick him in our sleep and B.) we don't want him to fall off the bed. At the foot of our bed, a few inches from the bed since Matt used to kick it in his sleep and it would wake me is Wyatt's kennel which is big enough for a 120 pound dog. (He gets locked up during the work day with a blanket, bowl of water and some food due to his teeny tiny bladder he can no longer hold over long periods of time in his old age.)
Evidently, sometime last night, he moved to the foot of the bed and either walked off or fell off the bed which then made him cry out for help which woke me then Matt up. I wedged him slowly out of the spot (didn't want him to fall completely onto the floor)and took him outside to pee. And you guessed correctly - I had a very hard time falling back to sleep after that. Add in my annoyance with Matt's ease of going back to sleep and you can gather my mood at that point. 5AM alarm going off was not a welcome sound. And tonight, I can't even go to bed early... we have our very first birth class at our hospital which doesn't end until 9PM. Meaning we won't get home until 9:30PM. Followed by preparing for the following day and giving Wyatt a little attention since we will have been barely home all day.  It's going to be a long day. I am looking forward to this class though.
As for our weekend... Friday we didn't do much of anything. We watched a movie - Get Hard - which I had rented from the library. I clipped coupons and made a list of all our movies while watching it, but there were several funny moments. Worth checking out if you are looking for a good laugh.
Saturday, my goal was to stay home in pj's all day. Ya, that didn't happen. I think I had my very first craving. I wanted some M&M's badly. After making Matt check my candy hiding spot again (even though he knew there were none), I tried to convince him to go get me some. He said he would but not until that afternoon. Well, heck, I couldn't wait that long. I wanted some now. And I wanted some ice cream too so I could make my own McFlurry/Blizzard. Right now.
So I complained that I would have to go out in the hot weather to get some for myself and I either seemed pitiful or Matt took pity on me because he told me if I would go to the tractor store with him, we could go to Wal-Mart and get my M&M's and vanilla ice cream AND he would buy me lunch. SOLD! Got me a big bag of M&M minis, Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream and a foot long meatball sub. YUMMY!!! And don't judge, but not only did I have a bowl of ice cream with M&M's after lunch, but I had another after dinner. (And another after lunch on Sunday.) Later that evening we washed our cars. We need a new water sprayer. The water wasn't being stopped when not in use meaning I had to keep kinking the hose while Matt washed. Very annoying. We will be getting a new sprayer this weekend - it’s a necessity.
Sunday was running around day - Sugar and Spice doughnuts (OMG delicious!), church, Popeye's for lunch and Kroger.
Look at these doughnuts:

This picture doesn’t do them justice. You aren’t getting the full effect. AND these were placed in a bag because I thought we were taking them to go so they were a bit stuck together.
Matt kept raving about them every time someone brought them into his work and honestly, he had good reason to rave about them. I had Oreo Cheesecake and Banana Split doughnuts. Both tasted just like you would imagine. The Oreo Cheesecake one was my favorite though. For 3 doughnuts and a small coffee - $3.26. Cheap! A lot cheaper then Krispy Kreme. Sorry Krispy Kreme, but if we end up going out for doughnuts and they are opened, I will be passing you by and heading to Sugar and Spice was there lovely doughnuts. No hard feelings though. You did bring back my beloved birthday cake batter doughnut.

24 Weeks

I'm wearing the exact clothes from my 20 Week picture... oops!
How far along: 24 weeks
Fruit-size comparison: Cantaloupe
Length is: 22cm long from the top of his head to his heels (I think I was 'told' he was longer before because for some reason I remember saying he was as long as a ruler.) For the record, I am now only using one website for my information which should give me more consistent information. At least I hope.
Developmental milestones: My baby boy is now forming footprints and fingerprints making him even more unique from anyone else.
Weight gain: Well, when I weighed myself the morning of my appointment, I was only up 4 pounds from my appointment a month ago. When I got weighed at the doctor's office, I had gained 9 pounds in the same amount of time. I am not wanting to hit 200 pounds, but at this rate, it is inevitable. I can only hope I keep my promise to myself and actually exercise and lose weight after my baby boy gets here. I already told my husband how after our baby gets his shots, I plan on driving to a mall or somewhere indoor we can walk. I'll aim for every other day at this point. Although, maybe I won't want to take him out in the cold???
Sleep: I have decided it is best to go to sleep when I am really tired because I am able to stay asleep longer. If I go to bed when I am just kind of tired, I toss and turn and wake to pee WAY to frequently. And of course, on weekends, I'm not able to sleep in past 7 or 7:30 even though I desperately wish I could.
Best moment of the week: Oh where to begin... we have had several wonderful moments with our baby these past 2 weeks. Let me start with the best - seeing my stomach move in an upward motion when he either kicked or pushed me. I am happy Matt got to see it happen as well. We had our second anatomy scan on July 9th... I always enjoy seeing my baby. Monday, July 13, I was sitting at my desk while working and felt him kicking off and on for about 10 minutes. I was shocked and surprised. I stopped what I was doing and held my hand to my belly to feel him better. Maybe all babies are active, but I like to think of mine as a future athlete. This was the first time I felt him strongly while at work.
Movement: All the time. Especially after I eat and when I am lying in bed on my back. He's one wiggly guy!
Cravings: Still no true cravings, just fixations when something pops into my head. Over the weekend Matt mentioned Taco Bell and it wouldn't leave my head. We had it for dinner on Sunday. Yum! (Haven't ate there in YEARS!!!!!)
Gender: He's a BOY!!!
Belly button in or out: In. Maybe it's just me, but my belly button hole looks bigger.
Wedding ring: Maybe I'll get to wear them for my whole pregnancy?
Anything making you queasy/sick: Nope. I am back to riding on my vanpool twice a week and have been doing great. Of course, I have been taking precautions such as only looking straight ahead and making sure the air is circulating. Thankfully, my vanpool peeps are all very understanding.
What I miss: Not being hot all day. I hate the cold weather, but maybe I would have been better off being pregnant in the winter. I say this, but if this had happened, I would have found something else to complain about.
What I'm looking forward to: Duh!!! Holding my baby boy for the first time. Can hardly wait!
Labor signs: Nada
Symptoms: Unless you count being overheated, nothing.
Nursery: Picking out which bedroom to use is all we have done so far. I am indecisive about the crib. Plus, we might be moving so I am not in a hurry to make any purchases. I have organized his closet about twenty times.
Emotions: Feeling mostly wonderful. My work days drag and the time I spend at home goes by way too fast. But what's new?

We See Movement

This past weekend my mom came down to visit. We had all these plans to go see The Stephen Foster Show and then Shakespeare in the Park but of course, it rained Friday evening and then the ground was very saturated on Saturday. Plans got cancelled and we had to do something else.
Because of the rain, my mom decided not to come down until Saturday morning. We ended up doing some shopping and then we all went to a local place in Louisville called The Bacon Bar. Matt had heard good things about it from a co-worker so we figured we might as well try it.
The bacon appetizer we had consisted of (lower to top or left to right depending on how you see things) duck, beef, house smoked and turkey bacon. The duck bacon was delicious - my favorite. As far as entrees, I ordered a bacon cheese burger, my mom had bacon meatloaf sandwich and Matt had a turkey and bacon club. The food (besides the bacon) was decent. Nothing exciting to write home about. However, the atmosphere with live music was a very redeeming feature.
All in all, it was nice and decent. Both Matt and I agree if we eat here again, we will order duck BLTs.
Thursday morning while leaving the house for work, I noticed our mailbox was broken. So I faced the box part on the floor towards the street in hopes the mail would still be delivered. And it was. Friday I made sure the box part was still facing the same way. Mail was delivered along with a note telling us to fix our mailbox. I hope she was just doing that as part of her job and not to be a witch because it had only been two work days. Plus, it had been raining all week. Not exactly sure when she wanted us to fix the issue. Saturday my husband had to work which meant it still didn’t get done. Sunday was the day he had time to get it all done. Boy was it hot! He is a much better person then me. I would have quit and called it a day. I barely helped him - only had to hold the mailbox in place while he screwed in a few screws and then I held it to help make sure it was level before he added the concrete all while I was 'dying' from the heat. Temperature said it was 93 degrees and that’s not accounting for the hot sun blaring down on you.
The mailbox looks great by the way. We moved it to the other side of our driveway so eventually I need to move the bricks, rocks and plants around our original mailbox.
Speaking of our mailbox, I placed an old cooler outside next to our trash yesterday and Matt placed the mailbox inside of it. Someone stopped by and we thought was gonna take our broken cooler but instead, he took the broken mailbox. And then not 10 minutes later another guy came by and took the broken cooler. Every single time we have placed anything on the curb someone has always came by and picked up our junk. On one hand, I am glad these items are either being reused or recycled. On the other hand, just goes to show you some people will take any old junk.
Exciting news from yesterday.... after I ate lunch I kept feeling my baby boy move around... for like 10 minutes. I loved it!
Then last night while I was in the bathtub reading, I felt him moving/kicking and I was watching and saw my stomach move! It pushed out for a few seconds. I hollered to Matt to come quick and he got to see it too. He saw on the third time I yelled for him at least. Perhaps all my yelling was scaring my baby?? Such fun! I can hardly wait until we see a hand or a foot go across my stomach. :) Matt is convinced our little boy is strong and I don’t have the heart to tell him most babies do this. I would rather him think we really do have a strong baby boy.

Anatomy Scan #2

Yesterday, we had our second anatomy scan of our little one. Let me start off by saying we saw his little wiener again meaning he is definitely all BOY - third time seeing it. No denying it. But, as usual, our little boy was rolled in a ball and didn’t want to show us his face. They were able to get pictures of his heart and his profile (side view of his face). I was really wanting to see his face so I inquired if we would be coming back for another ultrasound... nope. Everything looked good on him and unless something is wrong, we won't see him again until he is born. Seems very far away though.
Can we speed up time and have my due date upon us already?
Before my appointment, on the way there, I listened to my music loudly and sang along. I even chewed on some gum in hopes of having him move around. I had meant to bring some apple juice with me, but somehow I forgot it at home. During my appointment, the technician prodded him, I prodded/moved around and I half way emptied my bladder and still he wouldn’t move out of the fetal position. I am beginning to think he is either a.) one lazy little boy, b.) enjoys being curled up, c.) knew we were trying to see him and is camera shy, or d.) wants his looks to be a surprise. I'm not sure which one I am leaning more towards. I would have bribed him with something yummy to eat, but somehow I didn’t think he would cooperate.
Heart beats per minute were measured at 152. All previous appointments he has been at 153 bpm. I wonder what he will be next visit.
I should have asked for his weight. :(
After the anatomy scan, I went to my actual doctor appointment where we weren't called back until an hour past my appointment and then we only saw her for about 2 minutes. Makes me wonder how they get so far behind. Before seeing the actual doctor, while my measurement were taken, I was given this lovely drink for the 1 hour glucose test. At least it is fruit punch. I'm hoping it doesn’t taste awful, but at least you are told to drink it all within 5 minutes so I can definitely tolerate it for that long. The scary part will be when they prick my finger an hour later. I thought they would draw blood. Nope.
My appointment is on August 7 - I'll be 27 weeks +1.

I was given instructions stating I needed to drink the entire amount in 5 minutes exactly 45 minutes before my appointment. When I arrive, I am to tell them I drank the drink and give them the exact time. I will then be pricked exactly an hour later from when the drink was consumed. Crazy! At least I can be assured my drink will be refrigerated - I read online it makes it taste a little more tolerable opposed to being warm or room temperature.

Because of the tight timeline, I think I will show up at the hospital an hour early so I can be sitting in my car drinking the drink ensuring I don’t get stuck in traffic or road construction. The only problem with this is my appointment isn’t until 10:15 AM and I am not allowed to eat or drink before the appointment. Not even water! Makes me want to sleep in until the last possible moment because I wake up starving every single morning.
I will make sure I pack a bottle of water and something to eat with me for after the test. I might even treat myself to some Chick-fil-a. Actually, who am I kidding.... I will for sure treat myself to a yummy chicken sandwich with a side of waffle fries.

I also intend to take the whole day off. Hate to use leave time all day, but what choice do I really have since I work an hour from my doctor's office?

Up & Up x 8

I have turned into one of those bloggers who only talks about their baby. I, however, never claimed I wasn't going to do this. Nor am I going to change. I am happy to talk about our son and he is what is going on in my life right now. But even with that being said, I do want to try and document my weekends when something fun/significant happens. Or you know, when nothing at all happens and it was just a nice three day weekend opposed to a boring two day weekend.
Friday, Matt and I were both off from work. Would have been nice to sleep in, but Wyatt had an accident in bed and I was up by 6:30. *sigh* Story of my life. Like I said before, he really is getting me prepared for motherhood. After removing the sheets and cleaning the mattress, it was just easier to stay awake and take a nap in a few hours. Naps are wonderful too. We later went out to the movie theater to see Jurassic World. I thought the movie was awesome! Started off a little slow, but it did not disappoint. I wasn't expecting the theater to be so full, but I got stuck with someone sitting directly next to me who kept hogging the arm rest. Doesn't always pay to be early for the movie I suppose. Who knew it would be busy at a movie that had been out for a few weeks at 2 in the afternoon???
After the movie, we did a little shopping and ate Chick-fil-a for dinner. Bought my baby boy the book 'If You Give A Mouse A Cookie' from the Kohl's Cares Collection along with a cute outfit with sharks on it.
Saturday we went to the gym and relaxed all morning. I think we left the house around 2 to get a little more shopping out of the way followed by church. Shouldn't need to shop next weekend with the exception of groceries. Dinner was at Moe's. Followed by seeing the fireworks our town offered. We were a bit further away than last year so we didn't get to experience the big 'booms' which was a little disappointing, but it was still a beautiful event to watch.
Sunday we shopped at Kroger and then did nothing all day. Well that's not true, we both did some cleaning around the house. And I am happy to report I took a few bags to Goodwill this morning on my way into work. I love getting rid of unneeded stuff. Makes me feel good about myself. Too bad the other side of me is a packrat and hates to part with anything. Good thing I have the arrival of my son and a possible future move to help motivate me to get everything cleaned and removed that is no longer needed.
Sunday I saw an awesome diaper deal from Target....
Spend $125 on baby products, get $20 gift card OR spend $200 on baby products, get $40 gift card.
Up & Up big box of diapers on sale for $24.99 each AND buy 2, get $10 gift card.
Bought 8 boxes of diapers for $199.92 and added a small container of wipes to get over the $200 total before tax.
THEN I used my new (just signed up) Target credit card to get 5% off.
Subtotal = $201.71
- $10.09 for using Red Card
+ Free shipping
+ $6.70 for tax
GRAND TOTAL = $198.32 AND I'll get back $80 in gift cards which makes it (depending on how you look at it) $118.32 for 8 boxes of diapers and 1 small container of wipes.
Awesome deal and I didn't even have to leave my house!!!!
I am debating doing this deal one more time in order to be a little more stocked up when our son gets here. The problem is I don't really know how many diapers I need in each size. I am pretty sure I will do the deal again though. It is too good to pass. We shop there normally so the gift cards won't go to waste either. And I read online that as long as I keep my receipts, I can exchange the diaper sizes on this brand for up to one year.
---Ordered on Sunday evening and was at my house this afternoon when I got off work. They accidently sent one of them in the wrong size, but that's okay. I'll keep it. ---
And while I'm on the topic of Target, let me tell you about registering for our baby.  We went to Target a little over 2 weeks ago and went to the customer service desk and were given a barcode scanner to create our registry. We thought it was neat that the barcode scanner was really what appeared to be an iPod within Target's own casing. I should have taken a picture of it. Basically after adding our registry information into the device, we went around the baby section (or store) scanning barcodes of items we wanted on our registry. Was very easy and kind of fun to do. Matt enjoyed being the official scanner while I picked out almost everything. He mostly just inputted his opinion for colors and designs. I am pretty sure he had as much fun as me. We even found a pack of hidden clearance Dr. Brown bottles for less than $5 while picking up items to scan. An awesome deal AND they aren't made in China.
When done, we turned the barcode scanner into the customer service desk and went on our merry way. I think it was the very next day when we got an email from Target thanking us for creating a baby registry with them and to stop by the customer service desk for our free baby registry gift. So this past weekend while there we went and picked it up:
My usual crappy phone picture.
I definitely like the pacifier and coupons. Those will get put to good use I'm sure. The bottle is nice, but it is made in China and I am trying very hard not to buy many products made in China that could (will) end up in my child's mouth. Very doable when it comes to bottles and pacifiers, but very hard when talking about toys. I have already bought a Sophie giraffe teether made in Paris which will hopefully be his only teething toy. And my mom has had some luck finding made in USA toys at Target.
Besides, it is better to support our local economy opposed to foreign economies... just ask Greece.
Wal-Mart, where I also attempted to make another baby registry does not offer barcode scanners... at their customer service desk we were informed all baby registries had to be done online.  No thanks! Wal-Mart, you need to step it up here... Target definitely has you beat in this aspect. I'm okay with updating my registry online, but I am not creating the entire thing online. Not worth my time and effort.
We still might register at Babies R' Us mostly for me to have a list of items I want to buy because Babies R' Us is all about babies and they have many items we want that aren't sold at Target. I might not tell anyone about this registry... I'll have to think about it. Seems greedy to have more than one.

22 Weeks

How far along: 22 weeks
Fruit-size comparison: Papaya or Spaghetti Squash depending on the website you look at.
Length is: Approximately 10.94 inches from crown to heel. He's getting so big!
Developmental milestones: Eyelids are still fused shut, but our baby boy should now be able to tell the difference between light and dark. He can hear more and more of his surroundings, but the most prominent sound he hears is my heartbeat. Babies evidently remember the sound of their mother's heartbeat which is why they are often soothed by being placed on mom's chest above the heart. Very interesting!
Maternity clothes: Yep. This is my new norm. I also had to buy bigger panties and I think I'll have to buy an even bigger size soon. Blah!
Weight gain: I didn't check... yes, total slacker - that's me. I'll find out July 9th when I go to the doctor.
Stretch marks: On the side of my belly I seem to be getting them. Good thing I had already planned on never wearing a bikini. LOL!
Sleep: I start off sleeping well, but I tend to toss and turn more often because I can't seem to find a comfortable spot. I am also having a harder time falling back to sleep which is making me very tired on work mornings. Not fun. I am looking forward to sleeping in on this lovely three day weekend.
Best moment of the week: Matt felt our baby move a few days in a row. AND I heard him tell his mother he felt him move while on the phone with her one evening. It's the small things which are important.
Movement: Lots of movement! I feel him all the time. Matt has also been feeling him which is pretty amazing. Perhaps it makes him seem more real to him???? Not sure. I sure enjoy feeling him! I hope it doesn't stop.
Cravings: I DID have a craving (maybe?) for McDonald's French fries and I caved into it the following day. Dang it! They were pretty good. Not sure I am actually getting cravings though... I think I just get fixated on certain food items once I have thought about them.
Gender: We are having a BOY!!!
Belly button in or out: In
Wedding ring: Still loosely on. I'm hoping this doesn’t change.
Anything making you queasy/sick: Still haven’t tried allowing someone else to drive me, so I might still get sick when this happens. I do get queasy if I don’t eat something immediately after waking up. Not looking forward to future doctor appointments where I can't eat prior to them. Eck! Might need my husband taking me to those appointments and having a snack packed. Sadly, I won't ask him to since he has no paid off time available. He deserves such a better job but that's a whole other story for a whole other day.
What I miss: Having more energy to stay up late watching movies on the weekend.
What I'm looking forward to: Holding my baby boy for the first time and seeing who he looks like. And of course, holding him to my chest, above my heart to sooth him. :)
Labor signs: None
Symptoms: Of what? How have I been answering this question? I should go back and look... too bad I am limited on time.
Nursery: Closet is looking pretty full with what we already have. I keep going in there and organizing more and more even though I could probably just leave it alone. I have also washed half of his clothes and have hung absolutely everything he owns that will fit on a hanger even if they will be later folded. Can hardly wait to paint his dresser and start filling it up. I need to get this done, but I am really kinda waiting until I can move the desk out of his room. Will happen soon.
Emotions: Mostly feeling great! Not scared or nervous about anything at the moment. Just looking forward to everything. 18 more weeks!
