He's A Wonderful Trainer

In my last blog post I mentioned Wyatt (my 16 year old dog), is preparing me for motherhood.

I just thought I would give you a few more examples of how he is doing this:
* He is a picky eater. When he find something he likes (rotisserie chicken), he decides he no longer likes it a few days later and refuses to eat it. We then have to scramble around and try to get him to like something else (pot roast or carving board chicken).
* When feeding him, and he is being extra picky, I have to sit on the floor with him and hand feed him pieces. If it falls on the ground, he won't eat it. (I don't know why.) I have to pick it up discreetly and re-offer it to him.
* If he won't eat anything offered to him, I have to melt cheese on top of it.
* When feeding myself, I am forced to share with him because he is a GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS and acts annoying/pitiful until I share. Even if he doesn't like the food I offer him, he'll ignore it on the ground in front of him and still beg for more.
 * He wakes me up almost every single night to go potty at least once, sometimes twice. (We've had two good nights of him not waking me... I hope this lasts awhile longer.)
* While outside to go potty, with the exception of peeing, I have to holler (he's going deaf) to get him to go in the grass to do his business. He prefers to just stare at me like I am a moron.

* I have to adjust his blankets every morning because he moves them around looking for a comfortable spot. And not just around in one spot, he pushes them across the room!
* I have to change his blankets every few days because he wets the bed which means additional laundry for me.
* I can't go to the bathroom without him. I think he thinks there is a secret exit door in there.
* Can't leave him alone on the floor in the living room either.... he begs to sit on the couch even though he has a large comfy dog bed in the room.
Don't you think he is preparing me for children? Hopefully all his 'hard work' is put to use in the very near future! :)

The only thing I did in our second bedroom was vacuum. And in addition to everything I did above, I also washed, dried and put away all laundry. We have a VERY clean house right now. :)
I still have a small list of things to clean this coming weekend, but then I am done with all this deep cleaning. I am ready to enjoy opening the windows and letting the fresh air in the house.
We'll see if these few things get accomplished. I am sick of cleaning at this point and not sure if I can motivate myself to do these last few things.
Also over the weekend I bought and watched Frozen. LOVE that movie! We watched American Hustler on Friday evening and neither one of us thought it was very good. The acting was great, but the story line was a bit slow and boring. Glad we rented it for free from the library.
Starz movie channels were free this weekend and we recorded a few movies. I watched the Oz movie (fast forwarded most of it) and I am still not impressed with it. I really think they should have casted someone else as Oz. Maybe it would have been a better movie. Although if they make a second one, I am sure I will rent it.
So there you have it - my weekend consisted of cleaning and movie watching.
I still need to complete our taxes and make it to the gym this week being as I didn’t get those two tasks complete this weekend.
And because I need to have a picture on this post - ENJOY!

Feeling Great!

This past weekend we didn’t do anything special, but for some reason, I had an amazing weekend. To the point of making me want to blog about what we did.
It was stress free and I came back to work on Monday feeling extremely relaxed.
Friday evening, on my way home, I picked up Jimmy John's. Matt placed the order online and when I got there 5 minutes later, the food was ready along with Matt's soda. I thought they would have me get the soda. I was impressed and it made going there very simple. I am definitely willing to do take-out from there again. I came home, we ate, we watched TV, I took a bath and read. A great evening.
Saturday was BEAUTIFUL! The weather was much warmer than it had been since fall. And most of our snow finally melted. That fact alone put me in a great mood. GREAT mood!
We picked up our dozen pre-ordered dozen doughnuts from Nord's Bakery:

The bacon and maple syrup doughnut was good. I am glad I tried it.
Is it my favorite doughnut? No. I am still a Bolivarian cream kinda girl. At least now I can say I have tried the famous bacon and maple syrup doughnut and I do recommend you give it a try. I think it would have been better if the maple syrup frosting hadn't been so thick. For me, it was a bit too sweet.
Side note - when we arrived a little after 9AM, we were lucky to get there right when someone was pulling out. I waited in the car while Matt went in to get them. The line was about 5 people deep and continued to grow longer while Matt was in there. People were dropping people off and I assume were looping back to get them. One guy walked out with 4 dozen! I'm telling you, they are good! It is worth the trip if you are in the area.
After getting our doughnuts, we decided to check out the nearby Aldi's which we had never been to. You know, after eating 2 doughnuts each in the parking lot. It did not disappoint! This Aldi's, on Preston, is clean and about twice the size of the one I am used to shopping. We plan on going here every weekend for now on. We bought a bunch of fruit and vegetables for $20. I should have taken a picture. Much cheaper then Kroger or Meijer on all the items we purchased.
We went to the mall to look for new sunglasses for Matt, Trader Joes and Target.
Followed by Chick Fila. My favorite!
Once home, we re-organized and cleaned the garage. I felt so accomplished! LOL!
We actually got rid of a few things we no longer need that were just taking up precious space. We filled up our entire trash can with everything we no longer needed! We placed our rain barrel outside to collect some rain. Later, we will actually set it up properly. Matt also put together our firepot. I still need to paint it with high heat paint, but at least it is put together. Next warm weekend we get, I will get it painted so we can cook some s 'mores on it.
For dinner, I grilled pork ribs and asparagus while Matt did our grocery shopping. It was extremely nice to not have to go. And the food was delicious. It was my first time grilling both items. Matt even thought they came out perfect. Sweet success!

Sunday, we went to the gym right when they opened and then the zoo. Several animals were not in there exhibit due to the colder weather. I kind of expected this. I just thought it would be nice to walk around and breath in the fresh air while spending time together. I didn’t even bring my camera! I did take two pictures with my phone:

Aren't they cute?
I love the orangutan with the flat face. I just wanna cuddle him in my arms.
After the zoo, we ran into Sam's to get a rotisserie chicken for Wyatt - and they didn’t have any.
My sixteen and a half years old dog now only eats rotisserie chicken, macaroni and cheese and sometimes peas. He then begs for any food we are eating and only decides to like half of what we give him. He has gotten very picky in his old age. At this point, we allow him to eat whatever he wants in order to get him to eat anything. For treats, he prefers cheese crackers. Won't eat any of the pricy dog treats I have bought him. I think he is doing this to prepare Matt and I for parenthood one day. Odds are we will have a picky human baby. Ha ha ha! Only makes sense if it is a child of mine! Although, maybe not - I have a feeling Matt was willing to try all sorts of foods as a child since he loves trying new food now.
Over the weekend, we also made two different kinds of soups and I crock potted beef stroganoff. Meaning we are good on work lunch and meals for a few days this week. I hope to do the same thing next weekend.
I have felt very positive and motive to do stuff since Friday afternoon. Here it is Tuesday evening and I am still feeling the same way. I hope my outlook on life in general stays this way. I am loving how I have been feeling and would love this feeling to last.
I feel better than I have in a long time. Not saying anything negative because I had no issues before. I just feel even better. Maybe exercising and dieting really does work. I'm betting they do. I am down 8 pounds since Christmas. Not a ton, but better than none. As of Sunday, I have stepped it up. I have been eating good the last three days and have been to the gym the last two and I am going this evening. No, I don’t plan on going every day, but I am trying to go at least four times a week. I can do this!
We are both highly motivated. I have a feeling in 6 months, Matt and I will both look and feel amazing!
Keep us in your prayers that we stay on the right path and are successful. It is what I continue to pray for the both of us. :)

Huuuuuuuuump Day!

Hey Mike, what day is it???
Huuuuuuuuump Day!
That never gets old. LOL! Even at our movie theater, on the big screen, before the movie starts, the camel is in the movie theater telling Mike to turn his phone off. Ha ha ha! Crazy how popular that simple/annoying commercial has made that camel/saying so famous.
Are you like me and find it funny, or do you find it annoying???
I'm actually very curious.
I didn’t want to call this post anything besides a Hump Day tribute since that is exactly what this is. I am bored out of my mind at work and thought I might as well put myself to use and write up a quick blog post to publish tomorrow (Thursday). But that’s not a very good plan if I want my title to stay Huuuuuuuuump Day!.
I guess when I type my other blog post (The Color Vibe),I will post this one.
This week has been going by fast. It could be because this is really only my second day at work this week. Yep, you read that correctly. We had winter weather come through our area Sunday evening making the roads awful Monday morning. But you know what? I toughed it out and made it to work only to be told they cancelled work for the day.
Meaning my hour and a half drive in was a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, I was glad to be off work. I just wish they had told me sooner. I would have preferred to sleep in late. Instead, when I got home, I ate a belly full of Pizza Hut cheese sticks and took a four hour nap.
And guess what?
I was STILL tired!
Talk about lazy!
In other news, Matt and I are in the process of planning another cruise! Yay!
Matt is at the mercy of work schedules and we are forced to pick from the dates he can have off and I can't do the exact cruise my heart was kinda sorda set on. Darn! That's okay though. I found another good one which goes to four different places we have never seen. I am looking forward to new experiences and new memories we will make at these places. Once I have the full details and I have it fully booked, I will let you know where we are going.
I already have the flight almost booked and Wyatt's babysitter lined up. LOL! His aunt Laura will be watching him. I am sure he will have a nice time with her. She babies him like I do. Plus, he will get to enjoy being at home while we are away which should make him a little less uneasy.
Well, I guess it has been 15 minutes since I started writing. Guess I need to get back to work. Blah!
But because I do not want to write a blog post without at least one picture, check out the clothing worn during the Wicked performance in Nashville. We saw it at the Greenhills mall while we were in the area.
If anyone ever wants to take me to this show, I wont be upset. In fact, I am sure I will be giddy with anticipation.

Color Vibe 5K

This past weekend my mom and I (and her friend) participated in the Color Vibe.
This is exactly like the more well known Color Run, but has a different name. The proceeds go to whatever charity is represented. I like the charity ours supported, but this is not the reason I chose to participate. I mostly did it for my mom who wanted us to do this together for her birthday. And yes, she did have a nice time.
Happy belated Birthday!
The Color Vibe...
It. Was. Awesome.
Completely awesome!
The run/walk started at 9AM, but we got there early to people watch and make sure we were near the front for starting since we were walking and didn’t want to finish last. We didn’t need to worry. We were almost back to the finish and people were still coming through. Matt told me they did six different waves of people. He knows this, because all of our husbands were here to cheer us on and Matt took a bunch of pictures for us. Lucky me. :)
Prior to the run, I picked up our packs. Our admission price included our shirts, our numbers, sun glasses and one color pack each. You could pick any color you wanted - I chose purple for me and blue for my mom. You could have bought additional color packs and other merchandise, but I declined.
On the morning of the run, it was a bit chilly so although I wor shorts, I decided to wear a long sleeved shirt underneath my Color Vibe shirt. Smart on my part, I know.
We got in line about 30 minutes early which put us almost to the very front. Right before we were off, a guy walked around with a blower blowing out color. Don't worry, the sun glasses blocked the color from your eyes and as long as you kept your mouth closed, you were a-okay. In the run, you went through different color stations. I heard these were set at specific mile points, but I am unsure if that is true.
The walk was fun, but my favorite part was going through these stations where they would squirt and throw color at you. I did notice they never aimed for your face - they must have been warned. Some people wanted additional color and they must have figured the best way to do this was by rolling on the ground. I was shocked to even see adults doing this - not just children. I do not have a picture of this due to the fact I only ever noticed it when I was at the color station and my phone was safely tucked away within a Ziploc baggie inside my pocket. I was not chancing my phone getting ruined.
After the run, they had color spray parties. Thank Matt for these wonderful pictures:
