Family Thanksgiving

After getting a few hours of sleep I was good to go once again.
Translation: My brother and I decided to go to a few more stores to find anything good.

I woke up to find my mom feeling better which was nice. She said she felt like cooking Thanksgiving lunch.

I was hoping this would happen before I had to leave to go home.

I should have took a picture of our food.
It was yummy!
Took her 5 hours to make - 15 minutes for us to gobble a plate full.
I always hate that! :(
Seems like such a waste.

The babies got sick of watching us eat...
Both of them fell asleep while we were eating. Of course I am sure Wyatt would have woken up at the sound of the tiniest piece of food dropping.
He he he!

Today is mine and Matt's 5 year anniversary!!!
Where does the time go?
He bought me some new diamond earrings... I had 1/5ct. and now thanks to him I have 1/3ct. earrings.

Thank you Matt!
I love them!

We want to Opryland Hotel to view the Christmas lights but the traffic was awful and there was no where to park.
So we ditched that idea and went to do some shopping. I finally decided to get some free items from CVS and Walgreens. Unfortunately, I was starting with no beginning Reward money.
I still need to add up how much money we spent. I don't think it was too much.

Black Friday Shopping

Matt and I just finished our shopping.... before 5 AM! I thought for sure we wouldn't be done until after 6 AM or so. I'm glad I was wrong.
I went to bad got in bed at 8 last night and set my phone alarm for 11:35 PM to be up when Matt got here around midnight to head out for some Black Friday shopping.

This has been our best experience yet!

We got almost everything we wanted!
We got all the important items we wanted with ease.
I didn't get the comforter I wanted, but I really didn't need it.

Wanna read about our experience?
Okay, I'll tell ya.

About 11:45 PM I let Wyatt out to go to the bathroom and wouldn't you know it was snowing!
Big flakes!
Big flakes that were sticking to the ground!
So I called Matt and told him maybe this wasn't such a smart idea since it was snowing. He said the roads in town were fine - they were much worse where he lives.
Once he picked me up we went straight to Wal-Mart on WR.
It was crazy!
Not a single parking spot available! We had to park at the White Castle (so did others).
The line in the store was as bad as it was when I stayed up until midnight to buy New Moon when it first came out. We figured we might as well collect all the things we wanted since we were already there. We would just stand in the long line and move on. Not too big of a deal - just a big pain in the butt!

We found a few of the DVDs we wanted and the external hard drive I wanted that I thought wouldn't be on sale until after 5 AM. I scanned it and it rang the $70 it was supposed to ring after 5. I figured I would try to buy it since all the small electronics were already out. We found the Tupperware containers with ease (one of Matt's Christmas presents to his mom).
When we had originally walked by the clothing area, there was no room to look in the displays for the hoodies and other items we were looking for. People with there carts were just stopping anywhere and you could barely move through the area.
Since the line was terribly long I figured we should try to see if we could get on the backside of the boxes. We were successful - found all the colors and sizes we needed. I assume not many other people had thought to go around to the other side. They were barely picked through at all!
While walking around the store one more time we saw a small line forming around the paint department. Curious we looked to see what they were waiting for. They were checking out! We got soooo lucky!
So instead of waiting in line 2 hours, we waited 15 minutes!

After Wal-Mart we decided to check out Old Navy (arrived at 12:54).
They had all adult jeans $14.99 each.
There was a line to get in the store and then the line to check out was all the way wrapped around the store. Matt wanted to leave but I told him we might as well stay since the next store we wanted to go to didn't open until 3 AM. Good thing we waited. It only took 5 or 10 minutes to get in the actual store. I stood in line as soon as we got in while Matt looked for clothes. Then he stood in line while I looked. It worked out nicely. Everyone around us was doing the same things.
We were out of the store around 2:10 AM; I think. I feel it was well worth it - we bought 5 pairs of jeans, 2 hoodie jackets, and a pair of peppermint twists (candy canes) pj pants.

We decided to skip Kohl's at 3 AM and go later to make room for another trip to a different Wal-Mart. We stopped at the M. Wal-Mart to find no lines. We got a few more DVDs we wanted. They had none of the electronics out. I overheard someone say they would not be out until 5 AM (like they were supposed to be). Matt commented to me how we should have got the Blu-ray player he wanted from the first Wal-Mart since it was already out.
Not a problem for me - we went back to the first Wal-Mart and bought the DVD player as well as an inexpensive camera for him. (We got the last camera).

-Not sure why this Wal-Mart already had the electronics out. I'm sure people who waited to shop until 5 AM will be mad since they are sold out of a lot of the items.-

At this point it was almost 4 AM.
We had no intention of going to Target, but let me tell you - the line of people was all the way to the other side of the building! Past the doctor clinic (if you are familiar with the area)!
I didn't think they had anything too great.
I'm not so sure anything is worth that long of a line.

Since Kohl's looked packed and we had nothing else to do since we were no longer waiting for Wal-Mart at 5 AM I told Matt and I wanted to go Electronic Express to see if we could get the 32 GB Ipod touch. They were advertised to open at 5 AM and I didn't mind waiting in line for an hour. We were going to price match this at Wal-Mart at first but the line for the electronics department was already long. I decided if I didn't get one here, we would just have to pay full price later.
When we go there not many people were in line. I felt lucky! The manager came out asking us what we were all wanting to buy. When I told him what I wanted he said he would go get me a ticket.
That meant they still had at least one left!
(This is not the newest one just so you know.)
I'm not sure if I got the last one, but when someone a few people behind me asked for 2, the manager came back saying he didn't have any more tickets. He said they might have more, but not any with tickets.
Yay for me at least!
They also had an LG Blu-ray for $70 which was the same price for the Magnavox one from Wal-Mart. Matt decided to buy it and wants to return the one to Wal-Mart.
To make this even better, they opened the store at 4 AM - a whole hour earlier!
Once done with this store it was 4:30 AM. Matt said he should go to Kohl's since the lines would probably be shorter now. The parking lot still looked full, but fewer cars then when we drove by earlier. We walked in and the lines looked decent. We went to the back of the store to buy the comforter I wanted. We ran into a friend of Matt's and while they were talking I asked a guy what line he was in. He said he was in line to check out. I told Matt we were not waiting! So we left.

So now I am blogging and then I am going to sleep. I am finally starting to get tired.

Talk about a good night!
Such a good Black Friday shopping experience!
If you went shopping I hope yours was as smooth as mine!

Happy Turkey Day!

I hope everyone had/is having a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I'm hoping you have plenty of time to spend with your family and friends.
I am very thankful for the time I have been able to spend with my loved ones.

My mom got sick last night so we did not do Thanksgiving dinner here since she didn't think she would be able to handle the smells. Instead, I went to Matt's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

It sure was yummy!
They cooked a fried turkey, a smoked turkey, smoked salmon, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, and other things I cannot remember right now. We had a very nice meal. They will have some good leftovers.

Hopefully my mom feels better soon.... then we will do our family Thanksgiving.
I hate that she is sick, but it will be nice to eat a full turkey dinner twice. ;)
(Too cute!)

I was a little tempted to go to Walgreen's today to get all the free items after Register Rewards. I made the executive decision not to go though. I hate that some people have to work on Thanksgiving. I remember the days when only places like gas stations were opened. Then one year K-Mart was opened... I'll admit we went and bought a few CDs.
No matter how good of a deal something is, I have promised myself I will not buy anything from a store (besides a newspaper from a gas station) on Thanksgiving day.

Remember, I worked in retail for about 5 years combined.
It sucks working on or around holidays!
If you do shop, please remember to be kind to the store employees. They are forced to be there unlike you who made the choice to be away from your holiday celebrations.

I will start shopping tonight around midnight. I'm sure that's no better, but I am able to rationalize the act of shopping at that hour.
I will share all the good deals I get tomorrow.
There isn't too much I want - but hopefully I get everything I am wanting.
I hope to be done shopping by 6 AM and back in bed.
Maybe I will get a lot of my Chirstmas shopping done. I do not want to be Christmas shopping all the way up to the weekend before Christmas. I would like to be done about halfway through December.

Be safe while shopping tomorrow!!!

Internet Outage

I didn’t feel like blogging over the weekend and Monday after work my cable and internet were out.
As in they weren’t working!
(Insert shudder)
I turned my TV on that is connected to the cable box and all I got was a message saying my channel will be on shortly. So I waited and waited. Followed by more waiting.
Finally I turned it off then back on only to get the same message. I tried my TV in my room which is not connected to a cable box, but still no cable.
Okay, I thought. I’ll watch a movie on Netflix.
Internet wouldn’t connect so I turned my computer on to see what was wrong.
Over an hour later I finally decided to call Insight and see if there was an outage or if I was the only one with these issues.
So far it was just me.
She was very friendly… just didn’t give me the news I wanted to hear. If 3 people around me had connection problems within the hour, they would send someone out that night. If it was just me, they would send a technician out tomorrow between 2:30 and 5:30 PM.
I was so bored!
What did people do before cable and internet?
What on Earth did I used to do?
I decided to bake some oatmeal butterscotch cookies.
Then I ran out of things to do.

Today I got a phone call around 3:30 PM from the cable guy saying he was at my door. I asked him if I was supposed to be home. He said yes. I told him I didn’t know this. I asked him if he could come back after 4:40. He said he didn’t know – he had 2 more jobs to do. If he had time, he would stop by. He never came. I had to call Insight to make another appointment which is set for Monday. L

So now I am “borrowing” the internet from my neighbor. I don’t like doing things like this. I wrote this blog on Word prior to connecting to someone else’s internet so I could get on and off at least.
I should have got on earlier to print off a recipe I originally planned on making today. Oh well though. Tomorrow is a new day… maybe I’ll make it then.

I’ll blog and post pictures tomorrow of what I have been meaning to post. I just wanted you all to know I am still alive. J

Saturday, November 20, 2010 Deal

I always see on blogs how you can buy a $25 restaurant gift certificate for $10 then make the deal even sweeter by using a "coupon" to make them even cheaper.
I decided to finally make a purchase.
For $10 I bought 3 $25 gift certificates!

Go HERE... pick the restaurants you want and then use the "coupon" GOBBLE to receive up to an additional 80% off.
Print your certificates to use them today.
You don't have to wait for them to be mailed to you.

Matt and I are going shopping today so later I will post pictures of my Christmas decorations. (Still a work in process.)

Cricut Personal Electric Cutter

Had a great weekend.... besides being sick - of course.
Sunday I started feeling MUCH better! We skipped out on church which was bad. We wont do that again next week. We were planning on trying out a new church - I think I partly didn't want to go since I didn't know where it was. I figured we would go to the church we have been going to if we couldn't find it.
So instead we relaxed in the house until almost lunch time which was when we decided to shower, get dressed, and go out. We went to the Dollar Tree for 2 newspapers... looked through most of the coupons and ads in the car like we usual do. Then went on to Best Buy so I could purchase Matt's first Christmas present - Scrubs - The Final Season for $12.99. I figured it was too good of a deal to pass. Once we got to the Kroger parking lot Matt continued to look through more of the ads. Target had the same box set for $9.99! I suppose that's what we get for not looking through everything first. :)
I took the movie back into Best Buy where the customer service representative did the price match with no issues and gave me the difference back. Very simple! Probably the best exchange/return/price difference experience I have ever had.

When we went into Kroger the first thing I saw when we entered the side door was a display of 5 Cricut Personal Electric Cutters on sale for half off (regular $149.99 now for $69.99).
If you know me well at all, you know I have been wanting one of these for awhile now, but have felt the price tag was too steep.
After looking at them for a few minutes I told Matt I wanted to think about it while we shopped.
I decided not to buy it.
Lots of questions had been going through my head...
Did I really need it?
Would I really do all the things I wanted to do with it?
Was it worth it?
Were all the attachments going to be too costly?
Would I be good at it?
Would the cutouts look good displayed around the house?
I didn't really need it.

While at Penn Station Subs enjoying my favorite Dagwood sandwich - turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and light honey mustard, Matt looked up all the information I wanted to know about the cool gadget I had just seen.
I couldn't stop thinking about it.
I decided I wanted it.
I didn't want to regret not buying it.
One was already gone before we had left the store. We had been gone at least 30 minutes. Would there still be one left? I told Matt if it was still there it meant I should buy it.

It was!
Whoo hoo!
So glad I bought it!
To make this deal even sweeter, I just so happened to have a coupon mailed from Kroger for $5 off any $50 purchase. Although Matt wanted to buy it for me, I decided to buy it for myself, from myself for Christmas. I plan on wrapping it and sticking it under the tree. For now, it is under my kitchen table. I'm still debating if I want to remove the instructions so I can start learning how to use it.

If you have one of these, please let me know what you think about it.
P.S. We watched the movie Grown-ups last night. You should rent it. FUNNY!

No Fun Being Sick

It has been a very long week for me.
Long... with a capital "L" "O" "N" "G"!
Besides work, I have not really gone anywhere. My poor baby has hardly been outside and he has been stuck in bed with me.
(He's no complaining though.)
We are both basically beginning to feel stir crazy.
Too bad I'm still not feeling 100%.

I started feeling ill Monday afternoon while at work and it seemed to just get worse. Tuesday at work I even ran out of tissues and had to use toilet paper. :(
Thankfully I had already stocked up on extra boxes of tissues so I was able to bring in another box, but I can assure you my nose was RED.
Monday and Tuesday I really just thought I was having a bad case of allergies.
Tuesday evening when I got home I took some more medicine and went to bed around 5 PM. I was beginning to think I had a bigger issue then allergies.
Looking back I should have stayed home from work on Wednesday. I had a lot of interaction with customers which probably wasn't the smartest idea.
(I didn't have any choice though.)

Side note - About 5 or 6 of us at work have been sick or have allergies this week. I really hope none of us are infecting others. I fear some of us might be doing just that though. If they are like me, they feel too overwhelmed to miss work or they would rather just go instead of calling out and having to hear "her" get mad.
Thursday I was off work for Veteran's day. Yay!
I slept most of the day.

Friday I went back to work and sat at my desk working. I tried not to get up to much or talk to too many people. I then went home where I went to sleep until Matt arrived. I stayed up long enough to eat and watch a little TV. Was back in bed by 8 I think.

Yesterday was much better. Stayed up all day until 8:30. We just stayed home and watched TV and Netflix.
We watched 2 movies we both liked when growing up.
Matt picked "Full Metal Jacket" and I picked "Labyrinth".
Labyrinth was exactly how I remember it! It's not a movie I'll watch again anytime soon, but I was glad I got to re-live those memories.

Cute Babies!

These pictures speak for themselves:
Toby kept taking off his "hat" so it was hard to get a good picture of him.
He tongue and nose match. :)
Wyatt's costume is too big.

They will both look adorable next year!

Hey Charlie Brown

I truly meant to post this much sooner than today.
But, I am a procrastinator.
I did want to show you my wonderful grocery shopping from Saturday even though it is late.
All these items cost me a little less than $50. We went to Harris Teeter, Publix, and Kroger. (Harris Teeter was doubling coupons up to $1.98.) We got some wonderful deals.
The only items not pictured our the four 12 packs of Diet Dr. Pepper.
I would tell you what I paid for each item, but since only Harris Teeter's sale is still going on, it wont really matter.

(I have already returned the yellow costume... I always buy him mediums instead of small on accident.)
While out and about Saturday we went to 4 different Targets since they had all Halloween merchandise for 75% off. Here's what I scored. I'm not sure how much I spent, but I think it was around $10. I love shopping after each holiday when items are CHEAP!

Friday night I had $21 in Register Rewards that were expiring ($8 from my mom). No good sales were going on and I really didn't need anything so I bought "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - I remember watching these as a kid and still love watching them.
I do feel I kinda wasted the money though since I didn't really need these. On the plus side, I have already watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and plan to watch the other one soon.

It was a great weekend of shopping!

Finished Product

Hope you all had a good Halloween yesterday.
We ended up sitting here watching TV.
(I ordered Nerflix and we have been watching it "live" through my Wii - it is AWESOME!)

I was all prepared with my candy and only ended up getting 7 trick or treaters. :(
And to think, I was nervous I would not have enough candy. I live in an apartment complex... I thought for sure I would get a bunch of kids knocking on my door!
Not even the 3 little kids in my building came by!
Did you get any kids at your door?
I guess they either don't trick or treat or they do activities like "Trunk or Treat" (Church for example).

I wanted to show off my finished Halloween Candy Corn Wreath:
(Ignor the white ribbon for now.)
I found this perfect spider at Michael's the other night.
When you last saw my Halloween wreath, all I had done was create it.
I have spayed it with glitter, sealed it with 2 coats, and applied my spider.
 Can you see the glitter???
It turned out better then I thought it would.
The white ribbon on top is only there until I go to Hobby Lobby and buy black ribbon. I think the black will look much better then the white.

Changing the subject...
Check out your local Kroger ad. They have there Mega sale going on right now which means you get $5 off any 10 participating items.
I bought all these things above for a little over $10.00 after Mega sale's $5 off and coupons.

All of these above items were purchased for almost $8.

I plan on making at least one more trip for a few more items.
I wont break down all the prices - but do check out for the deals.
In yesterday's paper, cut out the $0.40 off any Colgate toothbrush for $0.20 toothbrushes. You can also print $1.00 off coupons from HERE.
Tons of soup coupons over the last few weeks or you can go HERE for some good ones.
(Mom, I'll tell you how I did it over the phone.)

Good luck finding some deals!
