Woof Woof

Since I have not posted anything in a few weeks I have a few cute pictures saved up of my baby boy!
(Only posting 3...Would be more but Blogger once again said my picture capacity was full so I had to do more deleting... so fraustrating!)

He's barking for a cookie!

Christmas Recap!

Merry late Christmas!
I hope everyone had a joyful time with their family and friends.... I know I did.
Since I have been too lazy/unmotivated to get on here and blog I need to update you on how my holiday season went down since I am in the mood to actually get on here.
(Please note I am still mad at Blogger for the picture incident and still plan to do more research on getting my own website.)

Let me start from the very beginning...
At work, the week before Christmas, we did Secret Santa leading up to our Christmas lunch on Friday. Secret Santa is a 'game' where everyone who wants to participate has there name placed in a hat and everyone picks a name out of it. You aren't suppose to tell who you have and if you get your own name you are suppose to draw another one. All you do is each day give them a gift. We had answered a few quick questions to help our Secret Santa with what we liked. At the Christmas lunch we all tried to guess who we had.
Really lots of fun. We did this last year as well and it worked out nicely.

My co-worker friend is who picked my name - she was very thoughtful with what she chose for me.
Check out the Friday gift I received:
How cool is this???
I haven't used it yet, but I have big plans. I love it! I have never seen anything like it. She said she saw it and just knew that was what she getting me. She said it screamed me. :)
I like how it even included recipes. My mom's husband keeps joking he hasn't gotten any cupcakes yet. I will definitely need to get to work before I visit them again. Who knows, he might not let me in the house without them.

We also played White Elephant which is where everyone brings in a gift with no name on it. Everyone draws a number - lowest number person picks a present off the table and keeps it (they get to go again last). The next lowest number picks a gift off the table and can either trade for a previous gift or keep the one they have. Going from the lowest number to the highest everyone picks a gift.
I ended up with a gift card to Texas Roadhouse. I went to this restaurant once during my brother's freshmen year in college (almost 5 years ago) so I don't really remember what it was like. Matt and I plan on going there this weekend so I hope it is yummy!

My mom went and painted this bad boy:
She created it at a local place in her town where they teach you to paint a certain painting. She went with two of her friends and said they had a blast!
Now I wanna go!
I'm jealous!
Guess I should of went - she invited me.
We plan to go next month when I am home. Let's hope I can make something as beautiful as this one!
I hope to use it in my future space (I'll talk about this another day.)

Moving on to Christmas Eve...
Luckily since Christmas Day fell on Saturday we got Friday off from work.
I went home to my mom's house to spend the holiday there.
Christmas Eve my family all went to lunch at one of our local favorite restaurants where we enjoyed ribs and all the fixings. Mmmm!!!
Matt and I had already went and saw the lights on the river and the house that is lit up and blinks to Christmas music so we didn't have too much to do that night. After church we decided to exchange presents. (See below for pictures and details).

Christmas morning meant present time with my family
This picture doesn't do my mom's tree justice.
For lunch/dinner we had a wonderful ham.
After two nice meals the eight pound ham was completely ate. :(
I wanted to take some home with me.
I really will have to buy a whole ham and get the recipe from my mom.
If I can get it for a good price I'll make it this weekend.

Here's all the great gifts my family and Matt gave me:
From Matt:
Ipod Touch
4 TV shows on DVD
Stuffed animal
Water bottle

From my parents:
Food saver
Sonicare toothbrush
Floating Shelves
Ipod docking station
Cutting boards
Iron board
Sewing machine box

Matt and I get along well (I think) because we both love TV and movies so much!
We always buy each other movies and TV shows on DVD. These were two of my favorite shows growing up.
Matt's parents got me Eclipse - I picked it out so of course I had to get the one with ALL the extras!

Isn't he adorable???
I have a small collecting of giraffe stuffed animals - this one will make a great addition.
Purple is my favorite color!

My mom got me this cupcake since she noticed my Halloween one in my kitchen last time she was here.

Is this frame cute or what?
My brother got this for me and it is perfect! I plan to put it next to Wyatt's leash.

We even had a white Christmas!
First time TN has had this in 17 years!
It was wonderful!
The best part was how the snow was just a dusting - the roads were mostly clear which meant I was able to drive home easily on Sunday.

My mom, brother, and myself did a little after Christmas shopping on Sunday. I only bought a few items since I am cheap and prefer to wait until the clearance is at least 75% off.
I did buy a pink tree I have been wanting all year!
Just wait until you see it!
I have big plans!

Card Games and Food

Sorry I have been MIA so much these days.
I don't have a good excuse so I wont bother trying to come up with one.

Last time I posted on here blogspot told me I was over on my free picture limit.
What a BUMMER!
Okay I thought... I'll just delete some of my old pictures. (Which is what I did.) But unfortunately, you can no longer view those pictures on my blog at all.
Well that sucks!
So I thought I would research how to get my own website.
Sounded like a great idea at the time.
I looked up buying a domain - easy enough. Can cost as low as $1.99/year. That's good.
Now I need a host. Not sure what a host is. So I looked it up. Gotta pay monthly for that. Also need a site to store all my pictures. So now I am thinking this is going to become expensive. Not really worth it.
I do still want my own website though - need to do more research.
Will work on that one of these days. It would be nice to have more control of it. Have some big changes planned in the next few months so I know I'll have lots to write about.

Completely changing subjects-

Last weekend Matt and I went to Winston's here in Louisville for dinner. It was good and we had great service - just too fancy for us. Luckily we had a $25 gift certificate that I paid $3 which made the meal about $30.
Check out what we ate:
 (Salmon alone was delicious!)
The main chef came out after our first steak stack (this explains 2 pictures of the same dish) asking how we enjoyed the food. We both told him we enjoyed it. He told us the interns had overcooked the tortilla and he wanted to know if we would like another one. At this point we almost had the entire plate ate. We both told him it was okay. He kept insisting finally telling us they had to make it again either way so they would learn. He now wanted to know if we would at least pick at it. Matt said we would.
So we got 4 "meals" for the price of 3.
Overall, we were not impressed for the price. Wont go there for dinner again.

Went there for lunch today.
WAY better!
Here's what we had:
Lunch is MUCH better! Much better options/ more options. Matt and I like simple foods - dinner was to fancy for us. We are simple people.
Had the same good waitress. She even gave us the college discount even though we told her we weren't college students.

New topic...
Need some present ideas?
Hasbro has 4 great coupons to print (you can print 2 of each coupons per computer).
Matt and I went to Target today to score some good deals.

4 Picureka! cards games $5.04 each
4 Sorry! Revenge card games $5.24 each
4 Trivial Pursuit Steal card games $5.24 each
2 Hungry Hungry Hippos $4.99 each

Had enough coupons for $5 off from each game.

I will keep a few for me and donate the rest.
Which reminds me, I need to look online as to where I can donate them for Christmas. I also have a few other games/toys I want to donate. I told Matt we need to start "collecting" even more free and cheap toys/games for next year.

You should definetly go out and get some of these games for people on your Christmas list.

Happy Belated Birthday To ME!

I bet you have been wondering where I have been.

I was gonna tell you I have been oh so busy doing this and that and how I just didn't have time to get online. However, that is simply not true. I have no reason to lie so I wont.
I have been lazy and unmotivated to get online. Work has been rougher then usual and has been burning me out. I come home and all I want to do is sit and watch TV. No wonder I have such a hard time losing weight.

My birthday was back on Monday.
Go figure I woke up not feeling well!
And I still had to drive back to KY for work the following day.

I got some great presents from my family and Matt.
Mom and G got me a sewing machine... I haven't used it yet, but I do plan on getting lots of use of it. I need to learn how to use it first.

I have been busy decorating for Christmas around my home.
I have not been in the mood as much as I usually am... probably because of work... but my tree is up and BEAUTIFUL!
I would still like to make it even better, but I am out of ideas. I know I wanted it to have the theme of candy (I love the red and white theme). But, I do not have a ton of money to buy more supplies so this outcome is what I get for this year. After Christmas when everything is cheaper I will buy more items to make the tree even better next year. I like how the "stems" look when plucked randomly into the tree. Do you know what I am talking about? i don't know how else to describe them

- Beneath the tree is a candy themed wreath I am supposed to be working on. Again, I have no interest for some reason. Better luck next year. -

Check out my new ornament I bought yesterday from Hallmark with my $5 off coupon. (Made it $1 before tax.)

Because I am crazy I will let you in on a secret....
My tree was already decorated before yesterday... I choose to redo it since I was unhappy with the outcome.
This is the before look... seemed to dark... not a good look for a Christmas tree which should be bright and happy looking.
I think the red and white ribbon makes the tree look much brighter!
I will need to take more time on it next year to evenly space out the rows. I wanted to get it done last night before Matt got here - I wasn't done with the ornaments when he did arrive.

Here are a few of the decorations I bought last year after Christmas which I am in LOVE with:
Next Christmas I WILL have a house and I know everything WILL look even better!

Have you watched the Grinch yet?
I have seen it twice already.
I still need to watch Home Alone and Christmas Vacation - a must do every year; usually twice.

Look what we woke up to this morning:
Luckily, it does not seem to be sticking to the streets.
We were suppose to have 1 to 2 inches overnight. I think this is the perfect amout - covers the grass but not the road.

Last week when I was home Matt and I went to the Opryland Hotel to see the lights - something I have done every year since my family first moved to TN when I was a child.

It is losing its WOW factor.
Was not worth going through the crowds and parking far away.
I thought for sure there would be some new things to see since most of it was ruined in the flood. But no, everything was the same as usual.
Even Disney mixes things up every seven years...
I told Matt we will be taking a break from the hotel for a few years. Maybe by then it will all look new and magical once again to me.

Family Thanksgiving

After getting a few hours of sleep I was good to go once again.
Translation: My brother and I decided to go to a few more stores to find anything good.

I woke up to find my mom feeling better which was nice. She said she felt like cooking Thanksgiving lunch.

I was hoping this would happen before I had to leave to go home.

I should have took a picture of our food.
It was yummy!
Took her 5 hours to make - 15 minutes for us to gobble a plate full.
I always hate that! :(
Seems like such a waste.

The babies got sick of watching us eat...
Both of them fell asleep while we were eating. Of course I am sure Wyatt would have woken up at the sound of the tiniest piece of food dropping.
He he he!

Today is mine and Matt's 5 year anniversary!!!
Where does the time go?
He bought me some new diamond earrings... I had 1/5ct. and now thanks to him I have 1/3ct. earrings.

Thank you Matt!
I love them!

We want to Opryland Hotel to view the Christmas lights but the traffic was awful and there was no where to park.
So we ditched that idea and went to do some shopping. I finally decided to get some free items from CVS and Walgreens. Unfortunately, I was starting with no beginning Reward money.
I still need to add up how much money we spent. I don't think it was too much.

Black Friday Shopping

Matt and I just finished our shopping.... before 5 AM! I thought for sure we wouldn't be done until after 6 AM or so. I'm glad I was wrong.
I went to bad got in bed at 8 last night and set my phone alarm for 11:35 PM to be up when Matt got here around midnight to head out for some Black Friday shopping.

This has been our best experience yet!

We got almost everything we wanted!
We got all the important items we wanted with ease.
I didn't get the comforter I wanted, but I really didn't need it.

Wanna read about our experience?
Okay, I'll tell ya.

About 11:45 PM I let Wyatt out to go to the bathroom and wouldn't you know it was snowing!
Big flakes!
Big flakes that were sticking to the ground!
So I called Matt and told him maybe this wasn't such a smart idea since it was snowing. He said the roads in town were fine - they were much worse where he lives.
Once he picked me up we went straight to Wal-Mart on WR.
It was crazy!
Not a single parking spot available! We had to park at the White Castle (so did others).
The line in the store was as bad as it was when I stayed up until midnight to buy New Moon when it first came out. We figured we might as well collect all the things we wanted since we were already there. We would just stand in the long line and move on. Not too big of a deal - just a big pain in the butt!

We found a few of the DVDs we wanted and the external hard drive I wanted that I thought wouldn't be on sale until after 5 AM. I scanned it and it rang the $70 it was supposed to ring after 5. I figured I would try to buy it since all the small electronics were already out. We found the Tupperware containers with ease (one of Matt's Christmas presents to his mom).
When we had originally walked by the clothing area, there was no room to look in the displays for the hoodies and other items we were looking for. People with there carts were just stopping anywhere and you could barely move through the area.
Since the line was terribly long I figured we should try to see if we could get on the backside of the boxes. We were successful - found all the colors and sizes we needed. I assume not many other people had thought to go around to the other side. They were barely picked through at all!
While walking around the store one more time we saw a small line forming around the paint department. Curious we looked to see what they were waiting for. They were checking out! We got soooo lucky!
So instead of waiting in line 2 hours, we waited 15 minutes!

After Wal-Mart we decided to check out Old Navy (arrived at 12:54).
They had all adult jeans $14.99 each.
There was a line to get in the store and then the line to check out was all the way wrapped around the store. Matt wanted to leave but I told him we might as well stay since the next store we wanted to go to didn't open until 3 AM. Good thing we waited. It only took 5 or 10 minutes to get in the actual store. I stood in line as soon as we got in while Matt looked for clothes. Then he stood in line while I looked. It worked out nicely. Everyone around us was doing the same things.
We were out of the store around 2:10 AM; I think. I feel it was well worth it - we bought 5 pairs of jeans, 2 hoodie jackets, and a pair of peppermint twists (candy canes) pj pants.

We decided to skip Kohl's at 3 AM and go later to make room for another trip to a different Wal-Mart. We stopped at the M. Wal-Mart to find no lines. We got a few more DVDs we wanted. They had none of the electronics out. I overheard someone say they would not be out until 5 AM (like they were supposed to be). Matt commented to me how we should have got the Blu-ray player he wanted from the first Wal-Mart since it was already out.
Not a problem for me - we went back to the first Wal-Mart and bought the DVD player as well as an inexpensive camera for him. (We got the last camera).

-Not sure why this Wal-Mart already had the electronics out. I'm sure people who waited to shop until 5 AM will be mad since they are sold out of a lot of the items.-

At this point it was almost 4 AM.
We had no intention of going to Target, but let me tell you - the line of people was all the way to the other side of the building! Past the doctor clinic (if you are familiar with the area)!
I didn't think they had anything too great.
I'm not so sure anything is worth that long of a line.

Since Kohl's looked packed and we had nothing else to do since we were no longer waiting for Wal-Mart at 5 AM I told Matt and I wanted to go Electronic Express to see if we could get the 32 GB Ipod touch. They were advertised to open at 5 AM and I didn't mind waiting in line for an hour. We were going to price match this at Wal-Mart at first but the line for the electronics department was already long. I decided if I didn't get one here, we would just have to pay full price later.
When we go there not many people were in line. I felt lucky! The manager came out asking us what we were all wanting to buy. When I told him what I wanted he said he would go get me a ticket.
That meant they still had at least one left!
(This is not the newest one just so you know.)
I'm not sure if I got the last one, but when someone a few people behind me asked for 2, the manager came back saying he didn't have any more tickets. He said they might have more, but not any with tickets.
Yay for me at least!
They also had an LG Blu-ray for $70 which was the same price for the Magnavox one from Wal-Mart. Matt decided to buy it and wants to return the one to Wal-Mart.
To make this even better, they opened the store at 4 AM - a whole hour earlier!
Once done with this store it was 4:30 AM. Matt said he should go to Kohl's since the lines would probably be shorter now. The parking lot still looked full, but fewer cars then when we drove by earlier. We walked in and the lines looked decent. We went to the back of the store to buy the comforter I wanted. We ran into a friend of Matt's and while they were talking I asked a guy what line he was in. He said he was in line to check out. I told Matt we were not waiting! So we left.

So now I am blogging and then I am going to sleep. I am finally starting to get tired.

Talk about a good night!
Such a good Black Friday shopping experience!
If you went shopping I hope yours was as smooth as mine!

Happy Turkey Day!

I hope everyone had/is having a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I'm hoping you have plenty of time to spend with your family and friends.
I am very thankful for the time I have been able to spend with my loved ones.

My mom got sick last night so we did not do Thanksgiving dinner here since she didn't think she would be able to handle the smells. Instead, I went to Matt's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

It sure was yummy!
They cooked a fried turkey, a smoked turkey, smoked salmon, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, and other things I cannot remember right now. We had a very nice meal. They will have some good leftovers.

Hopefully my mom feels better soon.... then we will do our family Thanksgiving.
I hate that she is sick, but it will be nice to eat a full turkey dinner twice. ;)
(Too cute!)

I was a little tempted to go to Walgreen's today to get all the free items after Register Rewards. I made the executive decision not to go though. I hate that some people have to work on Thanksgiving. I remember the days when only places like gas stations were opened. Then one year K-Mart was opened... I'll admit we went and bought a few CDs.
No matter how good of a deal something is, I have promised myself I will not buy anything from a store (besides a newspaper from a gas station) on Thanksgiving day.

Remember, I worked in retail for about 5 years combined.
It sucks working on or around holidays!
If you do shop, please remember to be kind to the store employees. They are forced to be there unlike you who made the choice to be away from your holiday celebrations.

I will start shopping tonight around midnight. I'm sure that's no better, but I am able to rationalize the act of shopping at that hour.
I will share all the good deals I get tomorrow.
There isn't too much I want - but hopefully I get everything I am wanting.
I hope to be done shopping by 6 AM and back in bed.
Maybe I will get a lot of my Chirstmas shopping done. I do not want to be Christmas shopping all the way up to the weekend before Christmas. I would like to be done about halfway through December.

Be safe while shopping tomorrow!!!

Internet Outage

I didn’t feel like blogging over the weekend and Monday after work my cable and internet were out.
As in they weren’t working!
(Insert shudder)
I turned my TV on that is connected to the cable box and all I got was a message saying my channel will be on shortly. So I waited and waited. Followed by more waiting.
Finally I turned it off then back on only to get the same message. I tried my TV in my room which is not connected to a cable box, but still no cable.
Okay, I thought. I’ll watch a movie on Netflix.
Internet wouldn’t connect so I turned my computer on to see what was wrong.
Over an hour later I finally decided to call Insight and see if there was an outage or if I was the only one with these issues.
So far it was just me.
She was very friendly… just didn’t give me the news I wanted to hear. If 3 people around me had connection problems within the hour, they would send someone out that night. If it was just me, they would send a technician out tomorrow between 2:30 and 5:30 PM.
I was so bored!
What did people do before cable and internet?
What on Earth did I used to do?
I decided to bake some oatmeal butterscotch cookies.
Then I ran out of things to do.

Today I got a phone call around 3:30 PM from the cable guy saying he was at my door. I asked him if I was supposed to be home. He said yes. I told him I didn’t know this. I asked him if he could come back after 4:40. He said he didn’t know – he had 2 more jobs to do. If he had time, he would stop by. He never came. I had to call Insight to make another appointment which is set for Monday. L

So now I am “borrowing” the internet from my neighbor. I don’t like doing things like this. I wrote this blog on Word prior to connecting to someone else’s internet so I could get on and off at least.
I should have got on earlier to print off a recipe I originally planned on making today. Oh well though. Tomorrow is a new day… maybe I’ll make it then.

I’ll blog and post pictures tomorrow of what I have been meaning to post. I just wanted you all to know I am still alive. J

Saturday, November 20, 2010 Deal

I always see on blogs how you can buy a $25 restaurant gift certificate for $10 then make the deal even sweeter by using a "coupon" to make them even cheaper.
I decided to finally make a purchase.
For $10 I bought 3 $25 gift certificates!

Go HERE... pick the restaurants you want and then use the "coupon" GOBBLE to receive up to an additional 80% off.
Print your certificates to use them today.
You don't have to wait for them to be mailed to you.

Matt and I are going shopping today so later I will post pictures of my Christmas decorations. (Still a work in process.)

Cricut Personal Electric Cutter

Had a great weekend.... besides being sick - of course.
Sunday I started feeling MUCH better! We skipped out on church which was bad. We wont do that again next week. We were planning on trying out a new church - I think I partly didn't want to go since I didn't know where it was. I figured we would go to the church we have been going to if we couldn't find it.
So instead we relaxed in the house until almost lunch time which was when we decided to shower, get dressed, and go out. We went to the Dollar Tree for 2 newspapers... looked through most of the coupons and ads in the car like we usual do. Then went on to Best Buy so I could purchase Matt's first Christmas present - Scrubs - The Final Season for $12.99. I figured it was too good of a deal to pass. Once we got to the Kroger parking lot Matt continued to look through more of the ads. Target had the same box set for $9.99! I suppose that's what we get for not looking through everything first. :)
I took the movie back into Best Buy where the customer service representative did the price match with no issues and gave me the difference back. Very simple! Probably the best exchange/return/price difference experience I have ever had.

When we went into Kroger the first thing I saw when we entered the side door was a display of 5 Cricut Personal Electric Cutters on sale for half off (regular $149.99 now for $69.99).
If you know me well at all, you know I have been wanting one of these for awhile now, but have felt the price tag was too steep.
After looking at them for a few minutes I told Matt I wanted to think about it while we shopped.
I decided not to buy it.
Lots of questions had been going through my head...
Did I really need it?
Would I really do all the things I wanted to do with it?
Was it worth it?
Were all the attachments going to be too costly?
Would I be good at it?
Would the cutouts look good displayed around the house?
I didn't really need it.

While at Penn Station Subs enjoying my favorite Dagwood sandwich - turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato and light honey mustard, Matt looked up all the information I wanted to know about the cool gadget I had just seen.
I couldn't stop thinking about it.
I decided I wanted it.
I didn't want to regret not buying it.
One was already gone before we had left the store. We had been gone at least 30 minutes. Would there still be one left? I told Matt if it was still there it meant I should buy it.

It was!
Whoo hoo!
So glad I bought it!
To make this deal even sweeter, I just so happened to have a coupon mailed from Kroger for $5 off any $50 purchase. Although Matt wanted to buy it for me, I decided to buy it for myself, from myself for Christmas. I plan on wrapping it and sticking it under the tree. For now, it is under my kitchen table. I'm still debating if I want to remove the instructions so I can start learning how to use it.

If you have one of these, please let me know what you think about it.
P.S. We watched the movie Grown-ups last night. You should rent it. FUNNY!
