I'm Telling!

Share Bono and Bruse Springsteen!

Once You Pop...

If you like eating Pringles as much as I do, go to Walgreens and stock up!
They are currently $0.99 a can.
In today's Sunday paper there are coupons for $1.00 off 2 (you might also have some coupons left over from awhile ago that are about to expire on 06/30/09).
This makes them $0.50 a can!
This is a great deal!
I already bought 4 cans!

Miss Marple's Dinner Theatre

I had a very enjoyable evening yesterday in Nashville and thought I would share my experience with you. We went to Miss Marple's Dinner Theatre where they performed THE GIMMIE AWARDS!
Basically you eat, watch a show, choose who you want to win, and solve a murder. During our show we had a presenter, Share Bono, Garth Rivers, Brittany Shears, and Sharron Osleen. Oh, and Otis, the drunk. And a sheriff.
As you can probably guess, yes, they do make fun of the actual people. There were lots of laugh out loud moments.
I know who Britney Spears is the best so I especially thought the jokes about her were the funniest. They made so much fun of her. Ha ha ha!
(I used to love the actual Britney Spears' music growing up.)
The whole cast started off as our waiters who served us and refilled our drinks and things like that. After we ate dinner and the plates were taken away is when the show began. The same people who were are waiters were also the performers.
For dinner we ate:
Prime rib
Chicken with some sort of mushroom sauce
Green beans
Mashed potatoes
Pecan pie with a homemade whipped cream (Brittany Shears was claiming she made it. Want to know how? She said she learned from her mother. Go to Wal-mart and buy it. Take it out of the container, place it on the counter, cut it, and serve.)
They had water, tea and Coke products.
You could also bring your own bottle of your favorite alcoholic beverage - they provided the glasses and bottle openers.

Here is the cast:
(You might have to click on it to see a better picture)
The food the show serves comes from this restaurant- The Standard. It was a little bit down the road and across the street.
This is the program we were given at our seats.
Names of the cast members.
Ottis, the drunk
From left to right:
Garth Rivers
Brittnay Shears
Sharron Osleen
The Sherriff
Share Bono
The Presenter

When you first get to the show, they pick an actor or singer who you will be during the show.
I was Madonna!
My mom was Christina Aguilera. :)
My mom's husband was Bruce Springsteen.

Here is the "money" you got to use to ask for clues after the murder has been committed. I think they should of had more clues for us to buy. None of the tables guessed the murderer correctly.

The rules:
I picked Otis!
All in all, I thought it was fun. I feel it is a bit pricey, but worth going to see once.
Thank you mom for taking me, I had a very nice time!

Had Fun, BUT Was Not Too Impressed

So I drove the hour to go to the big city and shop at Harris Teeter today since this week coupons up to $1.99 are being doubled up to $3.98.

I was hoping I would be able to get some good deals like I did last month when Harris Teeter did triple coupons up to $0.99.

What's Your Goals?

Tried to go to the bank yesterday after work, but it was too crowded so I decided not to go. Not a good choice since they were closed today!
I will go next week.!

My mother suggested I write out my goals to make them more obtainable so I have decided I will blog about my financial goals. My long-term goal, hopefully by the end of the year, is to purchase a house. After much thought, I feel a single-family home is the way to go. My mom disagrees and thinks a townhouse would be better since I would not have to take of the yard. But, I do not think that would be a good long-term investment. I do know when I buy a house I would like a smaller home so it is cheaper to maintain – inside and outside.

I will obtain this goal by FINALLY opening a saving account this Saturday. (I wrote it, so now I have to do it. I have been putting it off for a few weeks now since I do not want to leave the house on Saturday morning, but now I feel accountable. )

I will open my savings account with $1000. I decided on this amount since I do not need to use this money right now and it would be nice to have MY money make me some MONEY! J

I will also transfer my second job’s paycheck to this new savings account. I am now 100% positive it is extra money since I have learned to live off my full-time job’s paycheck. It is not a lot of money, but every little bit counts. At most, that will be about $300 a month going into savings. My being frugal has helped me learn to spend less but still get what I wanted. Clipping coupons and going over the sales ads let me know when and where to buy my merchandise.

One last thing I will do to save money is to transfer $120 from my checking account to my savings account each month. This is the money I would have spent on health insurance. About a month ago I chose to cancel my health insurance since the rate was going up to about $200 a month. I would still have to pay $20 co-pay and be billed for any overages. I went to my family doctor twice and the girly doctor once last year. I made this decision given that I do not have any health issues and I do not have any dependents relying on my insurance. I think it would be cheaper to go to the doctor without insurance seeing as I do not go often.

If I do all of these saving methods, I believe I will be able to save around $400 each month. In six months, I will have saved $3400 if you count my original $1000. I can always save extra money as I learn to save even more.

Wish me luck!

Chicken Fried Rice - So Easy My Brother Can Make It!

My title says it all!

This is so easy to make that my younger brother could make it!
I mean that in a nice and sincere way!
These are the ingredients I used:
2 Cups of Cooked Rice
1 Bag of Steamfresh Veggies
2 Scrambled Eggs
Soy Sauce
Worcestershire Sauce

I cooked the rice in a rice cooker and mixed all the ingredients in a big pot. Add the sauces to taste.
It was yummy!
I made something similar to this a few months ago in a crockpot from 365 of Crockpotting (you can click the link to her site on the right side of my blog.

Prepare Your Coupons

Mark your calenders!

About 12 Hours Left!

I am so excited!

I save so much money throughout the month ever since I started going to Harris Teeter's coupon events.

Starting tomorrow at Harris Teeter, they will double your grocery coupons (up to $1.98 which will make them doubled up to $3.96).

Same rules as last time apply.

See my previous post HERE or check out the store's website HERE.

Look HERE to see how good I did last month!

Soldiers and Dogs In Dresses?

I had another wonderful buying experience from our local website which is like craigslist. When you find an item you want to purchase, you email the seller and then they let you know if it is still for sale. If it is, you decide on a meeting place to pay for your item(s).
I bought 3 movies for $3 each ($9 total):
Marley and Me
27 Dresses
We Were Soldiers

I figured this was a good price!

I bought the 2 movies for me and We Were Soldiers for Matt.
I am very happy with my purchase since none of the DVDs seem scratched or harmed in any way.

This is my third time purchasing off this website - and luckily, all three experiences have been great!

I hope you feel better soon!

Pork Chops and Presents

I invited my parents over for a late lunch today to thank G. for all his help/work he does with me and my brother. Although he is not my father, he is the closest thing I have to one, and for that, we appreciate him.
We appreciate ALL he does for us and our mother!
So to celebrate this, I made Shake and Bake pork chops, rice (from Trader Joe's - MMMMmmm!), corn, and broccoli.
We got him a gift card to Krystal and a new hand held Poker game. (His was looking kinda rough...must have had it for YEARS by now.)
G, we hope you had a nice afternoon!
Happy Father's Day to my Grandpa too!
Hope you and Grandma had a nice day together - I will see you both very soon!

Foot Cream - Too Expensive For Me!

I had recently read on a blog that if you buy Kerasal foot moisturizer for $7.99 at Walgreen's you would receive a $5 Register Reward good on your next purchase.
I had also recently read Weight Watchers magazine and Prevention magazine and I remembered seeing some good coupons in them.
One for $3 off and the other for $2 off.
I thought this would be a good deal so I looked for it when I was at Walgreen's today. According to the ad in front of the item, it is get $5 RR with the purchase of 2 at $7.99.
So even with my coupons it would be around $11 and I would get $5 RR.
Not worth it to me!

But, I am mentioning this just in case any of you wanted to go out and buy it.
If you do buy it, keep your receipt and UPC tab.
Click HERE and do the mail-in offer for a FREE pair of moisture-enhancing socks!

Cheap Tennessean

As usual, on my way to the Y today I stopped at Walgreen's to purchase 2 newspapers.
As I go to select my local city's newspaper I see a sign. I read the sign which states - "All summer long, the Tennessean is $0.99 on Sunday and $0.50 all other days." (Or something like that - I wish I had my camera with me to take a picture of it!)
What a bargain!
I only ever by 2 at first (sometimes 1) and usually go back if their are some good coupons.... I am a bit disappointed with today's coupons. I only cut out a few that I liked.
One thing I found interesting though was if you look inside USA WEEKEND (their are always a few coupons in here) I saw in the first one I flipped through a coupon for BUY 6 DEL MONTE CANNED ITEMS, GET 1 FREE!
So I clipped it.
My next newspaper had two USA WEEKEND in it... but neither one had this coupon....
LOOK Below!

Weird right?
I wonder why this happened?
So check yours and see if you were lucky enough to receive this coupon.

Celebrate The Day!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day!

Tater Tots Delivered To My Door?

Have your ever ordered from the big yellow truck?
I never had....before today.
Schwans is a company that sells food items you can order online, over the phone, or straight from the truck. I thought now was a good time to see how this works and if it is worth it since right now you can get $5 off any purchase.

Go HERE to create an account and place an order. You can purchase anything to use the coupon (D5) as long as your total with the $1 shipping is over $5.

I purchased a 2-pound bag of tater tots for $4.99

Plus $1 shipping

Minus $5 code - D5

Total = $1.07 after tax

My tater tots will be delivered by the truck...not sure when though...

I will update this post once I receive my purchase to let you know how my experience was.

The Things You Miss While At Work

I decided to go home on my lunch break today for the first time ever. I had never tried to go home on lunch since I always thought it was too far since I live about 20 minutes away. I figured I might as well try since I usually just go sit in my car or drive around or go to the store since we do not have a break room at my work. Meaning I would either spend more, gas, or calories, or all of the above. I used to eat lunch in my car under a tree with the windows down but now it is too hot to do.
I was glad to discover I was able to be home for 25 minutes and still make it back to work with three minutes to spare.
Whoo Hoo!

The reason I am writing this is because I want to tell you how great my Wyatt is.
Everyday when I get home from work he is always right there barking and eager to greet me at the front door. Well, when I came home for lunch and turned the key in the lock, I did not hear barking.
And when I opened the door I was not greeted by my little cutie with his tail wagging.
So I called out to him.

"Come here, Wyatt!"

Finally I hear him coming down the stairs happy to see me. (He must not have heard me open the door.)
So two things:
1. He must sleep in his dog bed upstairs when I am not home. This means it is useless to place him in my chair each morning before I leave for work. I wonder why he sleeps up there? Does he like that dog bed better? Is the light or lack of light better? Hmmm...
2. He must know about the time when I come home from work for him to always be ready to say hello to me when I put the key in the lock. I know he does not come from upstairs. I also know on nights I am at my second job, according to Matt, about an hour before I come home he lays at the door waiting for me to come home.
I love my little dog!
He obviously loves me too!

I Am So Frustrated!

So I know you should not complain about your job on a blog, but I figured why not.... no one knows who I am except for a handful of people.... only one who works with me...
Yesterday I heard my lead's husband had to move for his job and she was going with him. According to a source, she was going to announce it to our team in a meeting today.
She did not do this.
So I finally got the courage to go into her office and let her know I would like to be considered for her job if it ever become available.
(I wanted to make sure she knew this since when a training position came up where I work it was never announced and it was given to someone who I feel did not deserve it.)
She said she was not planning to leave until next year but she would remember what I said.
Next year?
So now I do not know what to believe!
That is fine if she is not leaving, but if that is the case, I now know I will never move up in this company.
I need to find a new job!
But it is so hard!
Before I graduated college I went on several job interviews and only got one second interview.
What is wrong with me?
Why couldn't I find a good job?
So now I am in the same boat I was in 2 years ago!
Life is not fair!
I feel I should have a good paying job by now.
I would like to buy a house this year but that dream seems to be getting further and further away from me.
Oh, and at my current job, we had our reviews about 2 months ago....for at least 3 paychecks they have been saying mine and 4 other people's raise will be on our check. It still is not on there! At this point, they owe us a little over 2 months of back pay for our raise. But now I am worried I will never see that money since I have nothing in writing....
What am I going to do?

Washing My Roots

Despite my post from the other day, I went shopping to use my $3 RR and I bought (in 3 separate transactions):

2 St Ives Body Wash $2.99 each
Earn $3 RR

3 John Frieda products for $15
Used 3 $3 off coupons
Paid $6 for 3
Earned $5 RR

I guess I did okay...
I am hoping their will be something good to buy next week.... we will see!

Another Magazine!

Did you go out and buy the new issue of the Weight Watchers magazine?
I did today!
I was very excited to go out and get it and was even more happy when I checked my email this morning and had a coupon from Border's for $2 off any magazine.
The lady at the store even gave me back my coupon to use again.
How nice!
I read the magazine and was a little disappointed when I realized it only took me about 30 minutes to read it from cover to cover.

Horrible Sales Actually Save Me Money

This is the second week in a row that the stores have not had good sales. I am thankful I bought enough food to last me awhile. I still have enough meat to last me another week or week and a half....
This is doing great for my pocket since I am not really having to spend any money. My total amount spent for last week for everything including gas (excludes all bills), was about $46!! This is wonderful!
I hope to spend the same this week.
I already spent $19 today though...
I went to Kroger to buy some fruits and veggies and orange juice. Kroger actually had some decent prices on a few items.
Strawberries $1.50 a container
Seedless Watermelon $3.99
Bananas $0.54 a pound
Grapes $1.50 a pound
They also have their big 10 for $10 sale.
Remember, you do not have to buy 10 items to get this deal.... you can just buy one for $1.
I wish Walgreen's would get their act together and start having some better deals. I only stopped there once last week.... I used to stop there all the time. I didn't even bother going there to get my Sunday newspaper like I usually do. I saw no point in going in there to even see if they had any good clearance. I will have to sometime before Saturday since that is when my one $3 Register Reward expires.
Walgreen's, if you are reading this, just know, I wish to shop at your store again, but will not until you get some better deals!

Watched Some More Movies

I rented some more movies from Red Box.
I had such a wonderful experience last week that I decided to try it again.
This time I rented Seven Pounds and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
Seven Pounds is about a man who wants to help others. Watch as his story goes from the present to the past to see what he is doing. I don't want to really tell you what this movie is about since I think it will ruin it.
The movie had my attention in the beginning....the middles lacked, but I did not quit watching. Something about it made me want to continue to watch and see how it would end. I am glad I did. The ending made my eyes well. I would rate this movie as decent. Not the best, but not the worst.
The second movie was okay. I don't really like movies that are too unrealistic. This movie is about a baby that is born and looks to be about 80 even though he is a new born. His mother dies in child birth and his father wants nothing to do with him so he leaves him on a random doorstep. A wonderful lady takes him in and raises him. Watch as he becomes younger and younger while everyone gets older. This movie was a bit too long for me. It was a decent watch as well.

Once again, I had a good experience with Red Box.

Cable vs. Satellite

So which one do you have?
I currently have cable. I was lucky when I moved into my apartment since our local cable company was offering specials to new customers.
I pay about $60 for expanded cable, HBO, Cinnemax, the cable box, and the second to the highest Internet package. This price was only for one year unfortunately. My one year is now almost over. I did the math, and for what I have, it will cost $110 a month plus tax.
I refuse to pay that much!
I only need expanded cable and Internet! But still, too much money!
So now I am looking into satellite dishes. Both options will require me to sign some sort of contract - probable for 2 years.
Again, I refuse!
Why is this world making you sign a 2 year contract for everything!?!?!?!?!
What TV option do you use?

Red Box.... A Wonderful Rental Company

Now I have rented three movies from Red Box.
The best part of all this is the information I am going to share with you. You already know that you can return your Red Box movies to any Red Box.
The good part is, it does actually work!
I returned 2 of my rentals to 2 totally different Red Box machines. I checked my card information online - and they actually charged me correctly - $1 a night plus tax!
Two thumbs up for Red Box!
WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY cheaper then Hollywood Videos!

Not A Good Movie At All

So I rented and watched this movie today.
It was awful!
Despite having high powered actors and actresses in the movie it was lame!
I do not recommend renting it!
I guess the story could have been good if it was done better. It is about a group of people who do not know they are intertwined but are due to different people being married or in like with each other.

How Do You Use Your Bounce?

I received this in an email and thought I would pass it along.

I think I will try a few of these in the near future to see if they work....I hope they do!

The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow-jackets away.

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them. It also repels mice.

2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

10. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

11. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

12. To freshen the air in your car - Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.

13. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan.

14. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

15. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the lose hairs.

16. Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

17. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

18. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

19. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

20. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

21. Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and storing them. It will keep them smelling fresh.

22. Wet a Bounce sheet, hose down your car, and wipe lovebugs off easily with the wet Bounce.

My Home Will Be So Fresh And So Clean

Like always, I still enjoy going to Kroger!
I had planned to get a few essential items, but when I got there and saw the ad, I noticed Lysol products were half off and I had some wonderful Lysol coupons!
I am sad to say they were all out of Lysol Kitchen spray.....I still might go to one of the other Kroger's in our town to see if they have any. I plan to give my mom a few of these bottles since I do not need them all. I just could not pass on such a great deal.
When I was going to get my bacon, they had a blinkie for coupons. The coupon was for Buy One Get One Free Candy Bars! JACKPOT!
I would have stayed there all day waiting for more to come out but,
1. I am impatient about these kind of things
2. Someone was looking at me like they were watching me
3. A coupon got stuck in it after I got 6
Oh well though! I used 3 of the coupons today and will use the other 3 next time I shop.
I had a coupon for a FREE box of Kashi waffles and a FREE coupon for the strawberries!
I paid $15.11 for all the pictured items!
That is a 72% savings according to my receipt!

Milk and Cookies After I Rub My Lotion On

I had to go to Walgreen's today since, as usual, I had Register Reward Dollars ($6) expiring tomorrow and I wanted to make sure I used them.
I decided since I needed milk and I knew it was not on sale at Kroger that I should buy a gallon for $2.69....same price as Kroger. To make the deal sweeter, the sign said buy any 2 participating Nabisco cookies and gallon of milk, get $3 Register Rewards back. Not a bad deal.
Milk $2.69
Cookies 2 for $7 according to the sign.
So I thought it would be about $10 then minus my $6 RR.
Well, the milk rang up fine and the cookies did even better.... 2 for $5 (they had it marked wrong)... So I am thinking it will be about $8 minus my $6 RR!
I could only use $3 of my RR since you cannot use RR towards dairy.....WHO KNEW!
I still paid about what I thought I would, but now I gotta find something else to use my RRs on.

I go to the car to put away my milk and cookies and grab a few of my coupons for these wonderful deals that totaled to $2 after tax.

I got the last 3 Vaseline lotions on clearance for $1.89 minus my 3 $1.25 coupons.
$0.64 each
(Just so you know, this is my FAVORITE brand of lotion so you can just imagine how happy I was to get these! Wish they had more of the bigger bottles.)
Dove lotion on clearance for $3.19 minus my $1.50 off coupon
Stickers as my filler item for $0.50

$7.31 for:
2 Chips Ahoy Cookies
4 Bottles of Lotion
Pack of Stickers

And $3 RR

A little more then I would have liked to spend, but not bad.

Did You Miss Me?

Sorry it has been almost a week since I last wrote on here. It has been such a busy week for me. Work has seemed overwhelming, and when I am not there, I have been trying to go to the Y to get into shape. Then when I come home, I just want to eat, watch TV then go to sleep.
But, thankfully, the weekend is here and I plan to get everything I need to get done today.
I have already gotten most of my laundry cleaned and put away. I just got back from the store to get a few groceries. I rented a movie. I think I am done for time to relax!

Speaking of movies, we watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop last night. It started off slow before becoming funny and interesting. You should rent it. It is about a man who has been a mall cop for 10 years and keeps applying to be a State Trooper, but due to his blood sugar level, has never made it on the squad. The day after Thanksgiving, the mall is taken over by some bad guys who want to steal all bank and credit card information from all the stores. Watch as Paul Blart saves the day!
For tonight, I rented New In Town from REDBOX.
UPDATE: I watched this movie. I liked it!
It is about a woman who works for a big corporate company who sends her to Minnesota to work in one of their plants to figure out who to downsize. While there, she makes many friends and learns new things. Watch to see how this one turns out.
It is definitely a chick flick!
This was my first time renting from REDBOX. I have always wanted to try it and thanks to Hollywood Videos upsetting me, I did it today.

(Last time I rented movies from there it cost me almost $19. They claimed I returned a movie 6 days late when I know for a fact it was 5 days late. Meaning I should have only been charged one late fee, not two. This is not the first time they have erroneously charged me a late fee either. I will never rent from that company again. You would think they would have waived one of the late charges since I am a long time customer who rents often - but they didn't.)

If you rent from REDBOX before June 8, use this promo code: DEVRY6268

You will see a pending charge on your credit or bank card for $1 plus tax. As long as you return the movie by 7PM the next night, the movie will be free. You can use this promo code on each credit or bank card you have to enjoy more movies. I plan to rent another one tomorrow.
